John Brown

John Brown is a Managing Director focused on private corporate and structured debt transactions. 

Prior to joining Carlyle, John was a Managing Director at Barings LLC where he managed investment grade private debt transactions. John previously worked for MassMutual, Barings' parent company. At MassMutual, Mr. Brown focused on strategic direct investments, asset allocation and manager selection. Prior to joining MassMutual, Mr. Brown held a number of investment and analysis roles at a private investment company and Aetos Capital, an alternative asset manager. John began his career in the investment banking division at Goldman, Sachs & Co.

John received his M.B.A. from Columbia Business School and received a B.S. from the University of Virginia.
