Carlyle Group Names Chris Ullman VP for Corporate Communications

Washington, DC - The Carlyle Group today named Chris Ullman vice president for corporate communications. Mr. Ullman comes to this new position from the U.S. Office of Management and Budget, where he served as associate director for communications. He begins his duties immediately.


David Rubenstein, co-founder and managing director of The Carlyle Group, said, “Chris brings a rich mix of marketing skills and career experiences to this new position. His 15 years in the public policy and securities worlds coupled with his ability to make complex subjects understandable will be instrumental as Chris conveys Carlyle's goals and activities to our clients and the public.”


In this new position, Mr. Ullman will help develop and implement The Carlyle Group's global communications strategy and will serve as Carlyle's spokesman.


Prior to joining The Carlyle Group, Mr. Ullman was associate director for communications at the U.S. Office of Management and Budget. Before that he served as public affairs director and spokesman for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission under Chairman Arthur Levitt, now senior advisor to Carlyle. Previously, Mr. Ullman served as the senior public relations official for the U.S. House of Representatives Budget Committee. Prior to these government positions, Mr. Ullman was vice president of a Washington-based public relations firm.


Mr. Ullman, 38, received his B.A. in political science from Binghamton University. He and his wife Kristen reside in Alexandria, Virginia.
