Carlyle Asset Management Group Names Five Key Officials Each Brings Strong Money Management and Alternative Investment Experience
WASHINGTON, DC– Afsaneh Mashayekhi Beschloss, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Carlyle Asset Management Group (CAMG), announced today the addition of five key members to the CAMG team. The individuals, Robert A. Picard, Sudhir Krishnamurthi, Ph.D., David G. Kupperman, Ph.D., Todd E. Kata, and Dr. Jimmy Liew, join CAMG’s Alternative Investment Team and Research Team.

Robert A. Picard: Mr. Picard joins CAMG as Managing Director on the Alternative Marketable Investments Team. Prior to joining CAMG, Mr. Picard was Managing Director at RBC Capital Risk Advisors, working with the Global Equity Derivatives Group of Royal Bank of Canada. The Group actively managed more than US$ 10 billion of Royal Bank's proprietary assets through arbitrage trading, hedge fund investments, and structured private equity investments. Earlier, Mr. Picard worked as European Product Manager, Global Equity Derivatives for Kidder, Peabody in Europe. He graduated from College de Geneve and attended the University of Geneva School of Law.
Sudhir Krishnamurthi, Ph.D.: Dr. Krishnamurthi will join as Managing Director on CAMG's Research Team. Dr. Krishnamurthi was the former co-Head and Director of The World Bank Investment Management Department where he managed the bank's $12 billion pension investments, including its alternatives portfolio. Dr. Krishnamurthi was also the Director of Corporate Finance at The World Bank, where he managed $27 billion of equity for The World Bank Group. An international authority on investment policy, risk management, and asset liability techniques, Dr. Krishnamurthi earned his doctorate from Harvard Business School and taught at MIT's Sloan School of Management.
David G. Kupperman, Ph.D.: Dr. Kupperman joins CAMG's Research Team as a Vice-President. He was formerly a Vice-President at Goldman Sachs Group in the Private Equity Group where he was responsible for risk management and valuation and performance analysis. Prior to that, Dr. Kupperman advised Goldman Sachs Group's high-net worth clients and foundations in establishing long-term strategic asset allocations. Dr. Kupperman earned his doctorate in physics from The Johns Hopkins University and also served as a Senior Staff Physicist at the Applied Physics Laboratory.
Todd E. Kata: Mr. Kata joins CAMG as Vice President on the Alternative Marketable Investments Team. Mr. Kata was formerly a director at PlusFunds. Prior to that, he was a Listed trader in the Institutional Equity Division of Morgan Stanley. He began his career at Morgan Stanley on the government bond-trading desk in the Fixed Income division. Mr. Kata earned his A.B. in economics from Princeton University.
Jimmy Liew, Ph.D.: Dr. Liew joins CAMG as Vice President on the Research Team. Dr. Liew formerly worked as a consultant for Hypo VereinsBank where he developed the bank's alternative risk management methodology. He was also a Quantitative Strategist for Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong and New York. At Morgan Stanley, he worked with equity derivative traders and clients, created optimal hedging strategies, constructed dynamic portfolio strategies, and built industry and sector neutral optimal tracking portfolios. Dr. Liew earned his doctorate in finance and economics from Columbia Business School and a B.A. in mathematics from the University of Chicago.
These individuals join the CAMG team, which, in addition to Mrs. Mashayekhi Beschloss, includes Managing Director Jin Park, former alternative investments manager at The World Bank, and Managing Director Ted Hobart, former Partner at 4C Ventures.
